Each health bar represents at most 100 health.
Life (commonly known as HP, an abbreviation for Health /Hit Points, from English Hit / Hit Points) is the amount of life that a unit or structure has. The maximum life is the limit of life that a unit can have. Current health is directly reduced by damage and recovers in a number of different ways.
Each unit and structure has its maximum and current life shown in the form of a bar above its models. When displayed above a champion's model in a match, the life meter displays as a segmented bar.
The green health bar at the top, and the blue mana bar at the bottom.
In addition, for the champion itself, it is represented in the interface as a green bar with two numbers (# / #): the first represents the current life available at the moment, while the second is the maximum amount of life that the champion can to have. If the champion's health reaches zero and he has no ability to prevent it, he will die. Maximum health scales additively with each additional health point and increases each time you level up, meaning that each additional point acquired directly affects the stat.
At level 18 the base health goes from 1650 life on Gnar up to 2347 to live in Enlist. See this link for the full list.
Maximum health has a gold value of 2.67 per point. Health regen has a gold value of 36 per point. Life restored by a potion has a gold value of 0.233 per point.

Effective life
Effective health is considered the amount of health a champion has plus 1% per defense unit as bonus health due to damage reduction. In other words, effective life is the amount of damage an enemy needs to deal to kill the champion.
For example, in the case of a champion with 1000 HP and 0 armor and an enemy with basic attacks that deal 100 damage, the enemy needs to deal 1000 damage before reduction to kill the target. If the champion has 100 armor, it prevents 50% of the damage so the enemy deals 50 damage with each basic attack. Therefore, since the basic attack deals half damage, the enemy must double the number of attacks to deal a total of 1000 damage. So instead of dealing 1000 damage before reduction to kill the target, the enemy must deal 2000 damage before reduction to do so.
There is effective health for physical damage and for magic damage.
In summary the formula is:
- Physical Effective Life = Max. × (100 + Armor) / (100 × Total Damage Modifier)
- Maximum Effective Life = Max. × (100 + Magic Resist) / (100 × Total Damage Modifier)
- Effective Life = Max. / (1 -% Total Damage Reduction)
