Strategy
- This rune can be useful for
Champions where the first three attacks are the most powerful, either because they deal more damage or because the third hit has a special effect. Examples include 
Triple Claw Strike 
Xin Zhao and Mace of Spades Mace of Spades 
Mordekaiser. - It can also be used by champions who need to accumulate something on an enemy, using their basic attacks. For instance,
Sejuani can accumulate 
Permafrost Faster with Rain of Swords as it does 
Darius with up 
Hemorrhage, and 
Tristana with her 
Explosive charge. 
Jhin gets a huge DA boost with Rain of Swords, Ya que 
his passive converts the attack speed gained to AD. If Jhin causes 
critical damage with that attack, he also gains even higher movement speed.
Curiosities
- Rain of Swords has an effect very similar to
Lethal Rate, with a few differences:
- Rain of Swords only lasts for the first three attacks, while Lethal Cadence lasts for a few seconds, regardless of attack.
- Rain of Swords activates the instant you attack, while Lethal Cadence is delayed.
- Rain of Swords It can only be activated with basic attacks. Lethal Cadence can be activated with skills and basic attacks.
- Both runes are found on different rune paths.
- Rain of Swords only lasts for the first three attacks, while

Version history
V10.4- Time between hits increased from 2 to 3 seconds.
- Cooldown increased from 4 seconds to 8 seconds.
- New Effect: The cooldown now triggers in any case instead of triggering when you're out of combat.
- Bug Fixed: Now triggers correctly when the first basic attack causes a champion come out of
camouflage. - Fixed Bug: Fixed a case where your cooldown couldn't be reset after selling or refunding a
Dead Man's Plate fully charged.
- Bonus attack speed changed to 110% from 75% - 125% (based on level).
- New Effect: Attack resets no longer consume a stack of Rain of Swords.

- Cooldown reduced to 4 seconds out of combat by 5.
- Time between attacks increased to 2 seconds from 1.5.
- Bonus attack speed increased to 75% - 125% (based on level) from 50% - 100% (based on level).

- Passive: Attack a enemy champion grants 50% - 100% (based on level) bonus attack speed for your next 3 basic attacks. While active, Rain of Swords removes the attack speed limit.
- Rain of Swords lasts 1.5 seconds, and each basic attack updates the duration to 1.5 seconds.
