    The Freljord Ornn

El Fréljord (pronounciado /'fɹɛɫjɔɹd/ frel-yord) is a harsh and unforgiving land. Proud and fiercely independent, its people are born warriors, with a strong culture of assault. While there are many individual tribes within the Freljord, the battle lines are being drawn in a three-way civil war that will determine the future of all of them. A tribe resolutely honors The Freljord traditions that have ensured their survival; another follows the dream of a united future, as predicted by a young woman The Freljord idealistic; while the third worships the power of an enigmatic The Freljord sorceress. The Freljord is also the only place where Pure Ice can be found. [1]

    Summary

    Lore

The Freljord is a harsh and unforgiving place, where people are born as warriors, who must persevere through thick and thin.

Proud and fiercely independent, the Fréljord tribes are often considered savage, rugged, and "uncivilized" by their Valoran neighbors, who are unfamiliar with the ancient traditions that shaped them. Many thousands of years ago, the alliance between the sisters Avarosa, Serylda and The Freljord Lissandra was broken into a war that unknowingly threatened all of Runeterra, plunging the northern lands into chaos and almost constant winter. Now, only those truly exceptional mortals who seem immune to the ravages of fire or ice seem destined or capable of leading.

Despite the best efforts of the The Freljord Ice Guard, myths and legends still endure of the old gods, enigmatic yetis, and restless walking spirit shamans. The assailants of the The Freljord Winter's Claw spread further with each passing year, harassing the borders of The Freljord Demacia to the south, and the borders of The Freljord Noxus to the east. Finally, in search of a more peaceful future, the rebellious independent tribes and clans have begun to offer their allegiance to The Freljord Ashe, young queen of the The Freljord Avarosanos.

Still, the omens are bleak. War is surely returning to the Freljord, and no one can hope to escape it.

    Traditions

    The Freljord The Freljord
"Freljord; a home for some, a grave for many more. Minor Clans have fought for the right to rule this frozen land for millennia - all have failed. Now, at last, three great leaders have risen to rally the lesser tribes under their flags. The storms of war will cloud when their paths cross, but once the battle is over, the people will find only one tribe left, to rule the land. " - Lissandra

Freljord is an unforgiving place. A mountainous terrain covered in snow and ice, it is home to many vicious ice storms. Traveling, especially in the winter, can be very dangerous. The elements frequently even to those who have spent their entire lives there. Only one storm exceeds those found in the Freljord: the Vortex Gelid - a whirlwind, eddy of ice that surrounds the northern hemisphere of Runeterra.

    Location

    The Freljord The Freljord

    Mapa de Freljord

There are 8 currently known zones of the Freljord. Rakelstake, once a town where the Ice Dervish tribe lived now serves as the capital of the Freljord. The Gelid Vortex, a powerful whirlwind located north of the Freljord, surrounded by mountains. The Ursine Village, which is located just below the mountains of the Gelid Vortex. The Pointed Mountains, a mountain range that extends in a half circle, from the north of Noxus to the Freljord at its northernmost point. It is also the place where Anivia has made her home. The Avarosan Glacier Iceflow, somewhere next to the Vortex Gelid in the Montes Apuntados. Howling Abyss, a landmark in which the Iceborn overthrew their oppressors is now used as a Field of Justice by the War Academy. Lokfar, the peninsula where the Berserker, Olaf, lived, located north of the Sejuani territory. The Frostgaurd Citadel, where Lissandra and her Frostguard keep artifacts, treasures, and the records of their Freljord history.

    Culture

Known as "The Sons of Ice", the Freljordians were once a people divided by "The War of the Three Sisters" that left the inhabitants splintered for generations. The region was divided and dominated between three nomadic tribes: The Ice Archer Tribe, the Ice Dervish Tribe, and the Winter Claw Tribe, now known as The Avarosan, The Frost Guard, and Winter Claw respectively. Over the years the tribes would have occasional skirmishes with each other, although the reasons why the fighting was continued had been long forgotten by most. The tribes are ruled by the three princesses: Ashe, The Ice Archer; Lissandra, The Ice Witch; and Sejuani, La Furia del Norte.

In more recent times, with the coronation of the new queen, the Freljordians have begun the process of mending the ties between their fractured tribes. Sentient creatures that were marginalized and isolated, such as the Yetis and Ursinos, are now given a voice in the government of the city-state. Furthermore, through the alliance established by their foreign king, the barbarian tribes of northern Valoran have migrated to the Freljord and begun to integrate their own traditions into Freljordian society.

    Factions

The Freljord has become a land of endless conflict since the "War of the Three Sisters" broke out. Although the Freljord already has a sovereign, the tribal leaders still fight for it, bringing their tribes with them.

    • Winter Claw is led by the fierce Sejuani, who wishes to conquer Freljord through sheer strength. In his eyes, Freljord is a place where only the strong deserve to prosper. As the raids, his warriors allow the stalwart to live under his banner while looting the weaker tribes, leaving them with no means to support themselves. Once your job is done, only the mighty will remain in the Freljord. Champions who have teamed up with her are: Olaf, Udyr, and Volibear.
    • Avarosan are those who are loyal to Queen Ashe. While others wage war, Ashe works day and night to establish a single alliance in the entire Freljord. Although her methods are peaceful, she is still backed by a powerful and committed army. The champions that have allied to her are: Tryndamere, Anivia, Gragas, Nunu and Braum
    • Hidden beneath an eternal winter, the Ice Guards dwell deep within the ruins of the ancient Freljord. The Ice Guards obey their leader; Lissandra. Though seemingly peaceful, the truth of the Ice Guard's loyalty is far more disturbing. The world had forgotten about the terrible enemy that ruled the Freljord long ago and was thrown into the depths of the Howling Abyss after a long and brutal battle. Now, Lissandra plans to return her masters to their former glory. Only the trolls and their king, Trundle, have allied with her.

    Demography

There is a city known as Rakelstake in the Freljord, which was inhabited by the Ice Dervish tribe. It is believed that the city now serves as the capital of the united City-State.

    Relationship with Noxus

In light of the protections the League has extended to the Freljord - and thus to the barbarians - Noxus issued an order to "retreat" to the troops sent on his campaign to pacify the barbarian north.

Katarina, the Sinister Blade, handed over command to herself. He noted that Noxus abides by the rules of the League, but that his people do not forget the crimes committed by the barbarians.

    Relationship with Demacia

Demacia and the people that make up the Freljord today have had a history of conflict, though far from as severe as the conflict between Noxus and the barbarian tribes to the north. Both Ashe and Tryndamere have been highly critical of Demacia's neutrality during Noxus' barbaric pacification campaigns. In fact, Demacia had been very protective of her territory, turning her back on the refugees during the bloodiest episodes of the campaign. Similarly, farms in northern Demacia were often run by attacking parties of barbarians. Both city-states have a great deal of diplomatic work ahead of them before they can close the gap that spans decades of mistrust.

    History

    Age of the Ice Watchers

    Narrated by Lissandra

"Howling Abyss. A bottomless rift surrounded by a thousand-year-old fortress carved into a glacier. No one remembers who built this place, no one knows its purpose. No one except me."

"Before Ashe and Sejuani, before magic destroyed the broken peaks, before the desert swallowed Shurima, it was the time of the 3 sisters. We were so young then; Avarosa, Serylda, and I, Lissandra."

"The Ice Watchers lived here back then. I don't know where they came from, but I know they were powerful. They offered us their gifts, shared their magic, made us immortal. They called us," Children of Ice. " everything they wanted. A powerful fortress, a vast empire, our loyalty, was a small price to pay. Avarosa did not see it the same, she clamored for freedom like a rebellious girl, demanded to be able to choose. It was she who planted the seed of rebellion and treachery."

"This is where it happened. In one command the Watchers, in the other Avarosa and her orde of Children of Ice. Many Children of Ice died that day, but in the end, they were able to defeat the Watchers. The abyss was their doom. I never forgave her. ... I have already exacted my revenge, but that's another story. "
