A turret, Also called tower, is a heavy fortification that blocks the path of waves of minions and enemy champions to the Nexus. Turrets are one of the main components of League of Legends, as they provide damage, vision, and general control over the surrounding jungle. Although they are very powerful, they can only focus their attacks on one enemy at a time. In order for a champion to advance and continue his siege within enemy territory, he must destroy the turrets. Minion wave advancement in a lane is drastically slowed as long as the turret in that lane is still standing. These structures do a great deal of damage to enemy units. Turrets visually crumble as they take damage.
- Summoner's Rift has 11 turrets per team.
- Twisted Treeline has 7 turrets per team.
- Howling Abyss has 4 turrets per team.

General Information
The following information is valid for Summoner's Rift turrets. All turrets have 1350 vision range, 750 attack range, and deal physical damage. Grant true vision and uncover all invisible units and traps on the enemy team. The Inner Turret of a lane is indestructible and unreachable until the Outer Turret of its same lane is destroyed, and the Inner Turret must be destroyed in order for the Inhibitor's Turret to be destroyed. Nexus Turrets are invulnerable and untargetable unless an inhibitor is destroyed. If a turret is destroyed while a projectile is in the air, it will not deal damage.
Aura effects do not affect turrets, and they are immune to any crowd control effects, with the exception of stasis.
Turrets count as terrain, even after destroying them, as the foundations are not destroyed and stay in place. Skills like Heroic Charge of Poppy, GNAR! from Gnar and the Conviction of Vayne will interact with this terrain accordingly. In addition, they can create a forced point of passage to place traps, especially in the small area near the wall, since minions usually do not walk there.
Turrets deal bonus damage to melee minions and mages, whereby melee minions generally die from 2 tower attacks and 1 basic attack from a champion, and ranged minions die from 1 tower attack and 2 basic attacks from a champion. Towers deal 70% damage to siege minions.
Turret Passives
Some of the turret mechanics are explained in-game by items they have in their pseudo-inventory. These mechanics are detailed below:
Fortification
- Unique Passive - Fortification: 50% damage reduction from any source, this effect expires after 5 minutes.
Penetrating bullets
- + 30% Armor Penetration
- Unique Passive - Dodge Piercing: Turret attacks cannot be dodged or intercepted (unless the target becomes untargetable)
- Unique Passive - Heating: Turrets take 40% damage each time they hit a champion, up to a maximum of 120%.
- This effect does not reset when the turret changes targets.
- It resets three seconds after the champion's last shot.
- This effect disappears when the turret in question is destroyed (any shot in the air does not deal any damage).
Reinforced Armor
- Unique Passive - Reinforced Armor: Reduces damage taken by 66.66% and becomes immune to true damage when no enemy minions or Rift Herald are nearby.
This makes back door plays less effective than conventional pressure plays. Neutral pets, traps, and monsters do not disable this passive.
Guardian's Eye
- Unique Passive - True Sight: Can see invisible units and traps within 1200 sight radius, unless line of sight is obscured by terrain.

Inhibitor and Nexus Turrets
Life | AD (Max) | Armor | RM | Attack speed |
---|---|---|---|---|
2000 | 152 (180) | 100 | 100 | 4.0 |
Both attack with a projectile that:
- Ignores 82.5% of the target's armor.
- Reduces damage dealt by the target by 15%.
- Slows the target's movement speed by 10%.
- With each hit, the beam gets 6 heating points until 120 points are reached. When the beam changes targets, warm-up restarts.
- Gain + 1.05% damage per heating point, up to a maximum of + 125% bonus damage.
Furthermore:

Turret rewards
Destroying a turret grants both local and global gold.
Global gold is awarded to all champions on the team that destroyed the turret, while local gold is shared among all champions who are near a turret when it is destroyed (rank 1200). Champions who are not within the 1200 range but within the 2500 range will receive local gold only if they helped destroy the turret.
The first turret destroyed in the game grants an additional 150 local gold.
Attack priority
Turrets attack the first enemy to come into range until they die, move away from attack range, or are no longer a legal target to attack. When the current target becomes illegal for any reason, the turret will choose a new target. If multiple valid targets are within range, the turret will choose its target by following these priorities:
- The closest selectable trap (such as Surprise box Shaco).
- The closest enemy pet (such as Summon: Tibbers from Annie).
- The closest enemy Siege Minion or Super Minion.
- Yorick's Lady of the Mist.
- The closest enemy Fighting Minion.
- The closest enemy Mage Minion.
- The closest enemy champion.
However, if an enemy champion deals damage to an allied champion that is within 1400 range of the turret, the turret will begin attacking that enemy champion. Damage can come from any source, even pets. Turrets will not attack enemy champions in this way that use non-damaging abilities (such as Wall of Pain Karthus. However, turrets will prioritize their attacks on enemy champions that attack or cast abilities that deal damage to allied champions even if that attack / ability is completely blocked.
Attacking Turrets
