Opinions differ as to where exactly the home of the yordles is, although a handful of mortals claim to have walked unseen paths to a land of curious enchantment beyond the material realm. They speak of a place of unbridled magic, where the reckless can be misled by countless wonders and end up lost in a dream ...
En Bandle Town, each sensation is said to increase for non-yordles. The colors are brighter. Food and drink intoxicate the senses for years and, once tasted, they will never be forgotten. The sunlight is eternally golden, the waters crystal clear, and each harvest brings a fruitful reward. Perhaps some of these statements are true, or perhaps none, because no two narrators seem to agree on what they actually saw.
Only one thing is known for sure, and that is the timeless quality of Bandle City and its inhabitants. This could explain why mortals who find their way back often seem to have aged enormously, while many more never return.

Lore
Opinions differ as to where exactly the home of the yordles is located, though many claim to have traveled through invisible portals to a land of curious enchantment. They speak of a place of unbridled magic, where the reckless can be led astray by a myriad of wonders and lost in a dream, never to return.
For most Runeterra peoples, yordles are rarely something to fear. His legendary home of Bandle City is said to be a mysterious and spiritual place, filled with strange trinkets and memorabilia gathered from across the material realm. While these curious creatures often go to live among mortal races for a time, they usually return with new stories and new experiences to tell.

Past
Creation of the Gateway
During the early periods of Bandle City, the Yordles residing in this spirit realm began to build an intricate system of gateways that would allow them to travel to the material realm of Runeterra. Over the centuries, the Runaterran civilizations rose and fell, but the gateway system became increasingly complex, connected to each other via magical lines that crossed between the spiritual and material realms.
The Missing Link Reappears
Gnar Observing its Environment
Time goes by for most, but not Gnar. A lord born millennia ago, Gnar was trapped in true ice, literally frozen in time. Civilizations formed and fell as the prehistoric yordle stared, but nothing, not even true ice, could confine Gnar forever. After breaking free, he wandered Runeterra until he was discovered by his Yordle descendants. But, as they would soon discover, there is a beast behind the boy.

Runeterra is linked to an enchanted place in the spirit realm known as Bandle City. The paths are rarely seen by mortals, as they only open in particular circumstances, or for those with the ability to read and interpret the language of the yordles. Certain portals can only be opened with a series of specific gestures, often defined by peculiar symbols inscribed nearby. Some portals open into a deep cavern, when low tide reveals a pattern of runic circles, filling the indentations with seawater.
While there are portals whose positions can change over time, there are many that remain rooted in a single location. The magic of the spirit realm occasionally flows back and forth in these places, known as bandlewoods, and affects the local flora and fauna in strange and unpredictable ways.
The gates between the realms are delicate and are rarely opened, even to such deft creatures like cats as Yuumi. Yordles would have to wait days for the eastern star to align itself with a particular stone arch, or wade impatiently among marsh lilies, searching for a silver flower blooming from the mud, only then would a path appear.

Not much is known about Bandle City, or the Yordle writing system in general. Its symbols form graceful wave patterns and geometric shapes that connect to each other in what almost look like random patterns. Such writing can be seen on certain gateways that connect to Bandle City, as well as the Book of Thresholds.

— Yuumi |
The Book of Thresholds is a powerful sentient artifact from Bandle City that allows the user to instantly travel to almost any location depicted on its pages via the Yordle gateway system. Book of Thresholds was created by a yordle anthropologist long ago who wanted to study how yordle magic works and specifically how yordles travel between realms. Over the years, it has been added by various sorceresses and wizards with marginalia and drawings. Magical in nature, the book illustrates how to use gateways, where they are located, as well as the magical lines that traverse the material and spiritual realms. While primarily used for travel between Bandle City and Runeterra, its thousands of pages also have archived data for all the runeterran locations the gateway system was connected to (both past and present). Yuumi, its current owner, also tracks the best fishing spots around the Serpent Islands, as well as the unusual ley line patterns around Icathia's Void Rift in search of the books' original owner, Enchanting Norra Yordle.
With this book, anyone can easily access Bandle City or any place in Runeterra connected through the gateway system without the painstaking process of opening a gateway. The user would simply specify where they want to go, then after illustrating the location on the pages of the books, the user plunges into their glossy paper and reaches their destination, joining later for the book. The book received sensitivity from one of its previous owners to protect itself from those who would use its powers for evil.

— Yuumi |
Bandle City residents wear a variety of different clothing, armor, and accessories. Because many Yordles left Bandle City, those who returned sportswear from common cultures to Runeterran cultures were the longest part. Those who do not travel outside of Bandle City wear clothing similar to wizard robes, with giant hats adorning their heads.
In less illuminated parts of the world, the appearance of a yordle can seem terrifying or unnatural to mortals. Fortunately, they are adept at blending in and are often shielded by a kind of supernatural glamor, unconsciously fading from the viewer's attention or masquerading as a less noticeable individual. Yordles don't necessarily control their glamor and can understand it in a number of ways. The revered inventor Heimerdinger, for example, created unique technological devices for himself and Ziggs, to help them integrate into Piltovan society.
