Summoner Experience

Summoners win experience points (abbreviated as  XP) playing games and completing missions (when missions are available). When a summoner reaches a certain amount of experience points, his summoner's level increases.



The level of a summoner determines if they can access some game features. The highlight is that a summoner level of 30 or higher is required to play ranked matches.

Every time a summoner reaches a new level, they receive a reward. The most common reward is a Champion Capsule, containing up to 5 Champion Shards and sometimes also IT'S AT.

Gain experience

Departures

The amount of experience received by a game is determined by several rules:

  • Wins are worth more XP than losses.
  • Longer games are worth more XP.
  • Summoner's Rift PVP wins give approximately 5.767 base XP plus 6.626 XP per minute of game duration.
  • The minimum time a game must last to be eligible for rewards (XP, missions, and anything that requires you to play, win or lose a game) is 7 minutes. [1]
  • Custom games are not eligible to earn experience.

Depending on all of these factors, each game awards roughly 50-300 XP, with average values ​​around 200 XP.



Experience formula

Summoner's Rift experience gain can be calculated based on the total number of seconds played during a given game, whether or not it is won, and whether or not the first victory of the day is completed.

The following formulas correspond to the experience gained in Summoner's Rift as of November 17, 2017: [2]

Formula general:

Time: the total number of seconds spent in a game (for example, 15:49 => 949 seconds). Experience = (Time × (XP / s) + Base XP) (rounded to the nearest integer)

If the game is won:

Experience = (Time × 0.11 + 6.6)

If the game is lost:

Experience = (Time × 0.09 + 5.4)

Cooperative vs AI

The experience gained in the games of Coop vs. AI is reduced for Summoners with level 10 or higher. [3]

  • Summoner Level 1-9: Bots grant 100% XP.
  • Summoner Level 10-19: Bots grant 90% XP.
  • Summoner Level 20-29: Bots grant 80% XP.
  • Summoner Level 30+ - Bots grant 75% XP.

Introductory level AI is eligible for mission rewards (playing / winning a matched game) like First Win of the Day.

Increase the experience

You can buy them experience enhancers to increase the amount of experience gained. There are two types of boosts: win boosts and duration boosts.



First win of the day

Main article: First victory of the day

A daily quest is available from level 15. It rewards you with 50 and 400 XP when winning a matched game. Once completed, the mission will be unavailable for 20 hours. Note: the mission will not be available while a game is playing. Only games that start after 20 p.m. count towards completing this mission.

Leveling up

Leveling up grants access to new game modes, summoner spells, and extras like loot and champion masteries.

You can estimate the time required to level up by taking the level of one and noting your position beyond a multiple of 25 (except for the first two progressions: 1 to 30 and 31 to 50). Example: leveling up from level 51 to 52 is faster than leveling up from level 74 to 75, but also faster than a player at level 49, since you are positioned at the first level of the account (51 to 75).
