Riot Games Regions

To help solve the high latency problems caused by long distances and to avoid problems with the language barrier, Riot Games hosts multiple servers around the world.

There are some servers that are not operated by Riot. For example, the Southeast Asian servers are operated by Garena, a partner of Riot Games. The Chinese servers are operated by Tencent, the parent company.

Players cannot join servers hosted by a different Internet Service Provider. Each of these servers hosts up to 650,000 players, but some are dedicated to different skill levels. Possible future servers

Server transfers

This list includes servers that have been hinted at, advertised, or are frequently requested:

  • African servers (frequently requested)
  • Southeast Asian servers based at Riot Games for Singapore / Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines and Indonesia (Riot Games Singapore, frequently requested)
  • Server for the Middle East and North Africa (launch confirmed)

Transfers to other servers

When creating an account, the player must choose which server he will use, which is usually the server his country belongs to. Once created, the account belongs only to the server on which it was created and the login credentials become invalid on other servers.

In order to play with the same account on another server, a transfer can be purchased from the Riot Store of the PvP.net client under the "Account" tab.

Generally, transfers to other servers cost 2600. LAN, LAS, BR, RU and TR servers do not have the ability to transfer to some servers. Currently, it is not possible to transfer to or from the SEA, CN and KR servers. One cannot transfer to SEA because the server is hosted by Garena [10], nor to CN because the server is hosted by Tencent, both of which are third-party developer partners of Riot Games. As for the Korean server, this is because the server is only available to users who are in South Korea, since a national identification is needed to enter.
